Mid-Centiry Striped Kitchen

Details of each item

STOVE/COOKER: Charmingly-printed, tin plate stove, probably from the early 1950s, with an opening oven door showing lots of goodies being "cooked". The stove back features printed tiles, while four hooks hold a metal fish mould, strainer and grater. On the stove top, there’s a huge, metal soup pan and lid, plus a shallower pan, also with a lid, and the essential, hand-made, hot pad. Note that all metal items show a bit of wear-and-tear, including the stove top itself which has a slight bend in it.

CUPBOARD: A rustic, wooden, painted cupboard, about the same era as the stove, has two shelves to hold three white china dinner plates, another mould and a tin box.

TABLE AND BENCH: A really generous wooden table and matching bench of unknown provenance, covered with a vintage style, printed cotton tablecloth. The table is set with three vintage, pressed metal plates, while a larger one holds the blue cheese; there's also a vintage china bowl for the apples and vintage china platter for the bread. A vintage metal teapot plus modern white china mugs, creamer and sugar bowl complete the setting.

CHAIRS: Nicely-made, pale wooden, matching pair - made in America, mid-century.

WALLS: Covered in vintage-style wrapping paper, which has been mounted on two pieces of 5mm thick, A3 foam board. Each piece of foam board measures 42 x 29.5cm or 11 5/8 x 16 3/8 in. On the wall hangs a (non-working ) clock made from an antique enamel clock face, which has been mounted on a small piece of printed foam-board. Please note that this little clock is quite delicate - the hands of the clock are only glued in place.
