Illustrated Kitchen

Details of each item

Kitchen Appliances and Cupboards: A fantastic plastic and tin-plated metal kitchen in near-perfect condition, made by VEB in the former DDR Germany, probably during the 1960's. Hard plastic has been used for the cupboards and shelves, while the worktop and backsplash are metal. Unusually, the cupboard doors are illustrated with fruit and vegetables.

The best thing, in terms of play value, is that this really is a very complete little kitchen - there's a sink, a washing machine, a stove and even an extractor hood above the stove! Plus lots of storage for the myriad of miniatures which come with this kitchen. Please note that this kitchen came to us with some plastic items, which are included in the price, but we have added our preferred china and metal accessories too.

Table and Chairs: A round metal table and three metal chairs, in their original paintwork, probably dating from the late twentieth century. The table is set for lunch, with slices of pizza and strawberries. The china is white with red flowers and comprises four large plates, four small plates, four mugs, a platter, a jug, a sugar bowl and cream pitcher plus cutlery for four - please see the detail photo.

Cupboard: Another mid-century, German piece, this time stamped "Made in GDR" and made from wood. Inside it can hold the tea towel, broom and/or lots of pots and pans - please see the detail photo of the cupboard's interior.

Hanging Rack: A handmade rack to hold the wonderfully high quality, pink-handled, metal pans, which come with this kitchen.

Walls: Covered in retro-styled Danish wrapping paper, which has been mounted on two pieces of 5mm thick, A3 foam board. Each piece of foam board measures 42 x 29.5cm or 11 5/8 x 16 3/8 in.
