1950s Red Kitchen

Details of each item

STOVE/COOKER: Charmingly-printed American tin plate item, made by the Ohio Art Company in the 1950s with a wealth of period detail - from its gingham-trimmed curtains, to the yellow, pink and red colour scheme. The oven door opens and closes nicely. On top a vintage frying pan holds three fried eggs. Please note that this is not a perfect item - there are rust marks on the top corners and on the right side, although these imperfections will not affect the play value of the piece.

CUPBOARD: German, wooden, kitchen cupboard, painted in the cream and red colour combination, so typical of mid-century furniture. Inside there are hooks for the broom and dustpan, a little shelf, a sweet tin pail and a cardboard box of a German product called "Spec". There's also a long space on the inside, which handily holds the extra leaf for the table below. On top, a basket of apples and wooden canisters.

TABLE AND CHAIRS: Stylish, mid-century modern, wooden table and chairs, with the essential tapered legs, made by the high-quality American manufacturer, Strombecker. The table top has been painted a pale cream. The table is set with white china and silvery plastic cutlery - enough for four dolls to have breakfast. There's also a healthy, seeded loaf of bread, and a charming, little, soft stuffed cat who has its eyes on the milk jug!

SIDE CHAIR: Delightful, tin chair featuring printed flowers, in fantastic condition; it dates from the late 40's or early 50's.

WALLS: Covered in vintage-style, hand-made paper, which has been mounted on two pieces of 5mm thick, A3 foam board. Each piece of foam board measures 42 x 29.5cm or 11 5/8 x 16 3/8 in.
