1950's Italian Dining Room

Details of each item

SIDEBOARD: A handmade, mid-century piece with veneered surfaces and black edging. Behind it’s double doors, there’s a shelf for storing the spare place setting for the dining table. On top, sits a lovely, triple arm, white ceramic vintage candlestick. (Please see the close-up photo of this piece)..

MIRROR: An antique circle of ebony holds a modern mirror.

TABLE: The most amazing, mid-century Italian piece of doll furniture – we believe a one-off creation by some talented craftsperson - this tapered leg table features a laminate top and gilded edge. Around it are three mid century chairs, also with the characteristic tapered legs, while a fourth chair sits near the sideboard. The table itself is set for a little tea party or birthday party – there’s blueberry jellies and little cakes, all set on real white ceramic china. In all, four dinner plates, four side plates, four mugs, four compote dishes and also a “golden” set of cutlery come with this room set – please note that the fourth table setting is in the sideboard.

CHAIRS: A lovely set of four, mid-century, wooden chairs wooden chairs, perhaps of American manufacture.

WALLS: Covered in thick, 1950’s’s patterned paper, in the aqua and black combination so popular at this time. The paper has been mounted on two pieces of 5mm thick, A3 foam board. Each piece of foam board measures 42x29.5cm or 11 5/8 x 16 3/8in.
