Pale 18th Century Bedroom (SOLD)

Details of each item

BED: Hand-made, off-white sleigh bed - the perfect size for smaller dolls such as Amanda Jane or the Madame Alexander doll shown here.

BEDCLOTHES: Handmade mattress, linen sheets, and thick, lace-trimmed eiderdown. There’s also three, vintage lace-trimmed and hand-stitched pillows for the bed. All bedclothes are hand-washable.

PICTURES: A pair of cast-plaster pictures with typical "Rococco" imagery – period perfect, but fragile.

SIDE TABLE: Charming, pale pink , vintage tripod table with tiny central motif, for the sweet (modern) ceramic rabbit and book to lie on.

RUG: A most beautifully-woven rug with fantastically intricate detail, in glorious soft colours – a tiny version of the kind of rug which would have graced rooms in the 18th century.

DRESSER: Beautifully made chest of drawers with attached swivel mirror, featuring thin gilt banding and fine tapered legs. It looks like a much earlier piece, but, in fact, was made in Japan in the 1950s - there’s a country-of-origin stamp on its base. The four drawers open and close nicely. On top, sit a pair of brass candlesticks and a small, turned wooden bowl.

PAIR OF CHAIRS: Matching pair of pale aqua side chairs, also with gilt detail, each with a sweet hand-painted rose.

FRAGILITY NOTE: The side table and chest of drawers are quite delicate and fragile pieces, so this room set would be unsuitable for a very young child of four or five, but ideal for older children.

DOLL: Chosen from our selection of vintage dolls. Please see the relevant section of our website for a greater choice. The one shown is a Madame Alexander doll.
