1970s Flowery Bedroom

Details of each item

BUNK BEDS: Manufactured in America by Strombecker in the 1950’s, is this set of wooden bunk beds. They can be arranged either as matching twin beds, or as a single bunk bed since they come apart easily. They also have their original ladder, which can be stored under a bed when not in use. The beds measure 10.5in/25cm long and are 9in/23 high when stacked.

BEDCLOTHES: Handmade mattresses, cotton sheets, soft, ribbon-trimmed blankets, and flower-sprigged duvets/eiderdowns, plus pillows with pillowcases adorn the beds. Note: all bedding is hand-made and hand-washable. Two soft teddy bears are also supplied with this bedroom.

CHEST OF DRAWERS: A finely-crafted, vintage item, made from a close-grained wood, with mirror and three drawers. We believe this little gem was made in the early years of the 20th century. On top sits a little resin castle and a handmade lamp with pleated paper lampshade.

ROCKING CHAIR: A vintage piece, painted off-white, of unknown date and manufacturer, but probably hand made.

RUG: A piece of closely-woven, vintage fabric, ornamented with an orange fabric appliqué.

WALLS: Covered in Mary Quant-inspired, modern wrapping paper, which has been mounted on two pieces of 5mm thick A3 foam board. Each piece of foam board measures 42x29.5cm or 11 5/8 x16 3/8in.
