1950s Red and Cream Bedroom

BED: Lovely little American bed from the 1950’s, re-painted in the then-fashionable red-and-cream combination, to go with the rest of the period furniture in this room.

BEDCLOTHES: On the wooden base, a linen-covered mattress, two vintage cotton sheets, a soft cream blanket with rick-rack trim, topped with two pillows in a vintage-style print and a really charming, eiderdown with twenty, appliquéd stars on top. All bedding is hand-made and hand-washable. (Please see close-up photo of these bedclothes).

DRESSER: Gorgeous mid-century Swedish chest of drawers with stencilled detail on each drawer front, plus a swivel mirror on top. In un-touched original paintwork.

WARDROBE: Also with original paintwork in remarkable condition, this little closet has two hooks and a shelf inside, plus four hangers. Made in the German Democratic Republic in the 1950’s. Please see photo of the interior.

ROCKING HORSE: Amazing little piece, also made in the G.D.R. in the 1950’s and also in fantastic condition – perfect for dolly’s (modern) teddy to rock on. Please note that this little piece is slightly fragile.

WALLS: Covered in modern, vintage–style wrapping paper, mounted on two pieces of 5mm thick A3 foam board. . Each piece of foam board measures 42x29.5cm or 11 5/8 x16 3/8in. On the wall, above the bed is a little picture of a snowman.
